Brenda Baker Obituary

Brenda Leola Baker, daughter of the late Marlow and Ruth Henderson Sr., was born on April 3,1954. Brenda peacefully departed the earthly realm on Friday, March 17, 2023 at home.

Brenda was a saved Christian who loved her family. She frequently visited and spoke about her siblings continuously through the years.Brenda loved and admired her parents, Marlow and Ruth Henderson Sr. They lived with Brenda for some years and would be heard giving her leadership, support and guidance. Her dad referred to her as his beloved “BRENDOE”.

The strong family structure Brenda gained from her parents, she instilled in her children Lamont (Monty) and Antwan (Moochie). Through these two sons came fifteen grandchildren, whom Brenda would go through mountain highs and valley lows to support. You’d always hear Brenda’s passion when she mentioned her grandkids. She was affectionately known by all of them as “GRANNY”! Kobe and Devin were two names heard throughout MTA.

Her granddaughter, Amber who shares a close resemblance and acts like her, was another name heard throughout MTA. Brenda grew up in Pumphrey, Maryland with her elder brother, Marlow Henderson Jr. and sister, Karen Hinton. The family moved to Mt. Winans and Leroy Henderson and Faith were on board. As the family moved to Baltimore, Maryland, Adrienne Harris (AGIE) joined the structure group along with Melanie (Mel), who rounded up the Henderson group. A well mannered and educated with class group of devoted people.

Brenda was educated in the Baltimore City School system. She attended formerly known as Eastern High School and finished at Northwestern High School. Brenda furthered her education, attending BCC where she received her AA Degree. She worked at The Main Post Office for twenty years before retiring. Brenda went on to work for MTA for fifteen years until her health started to decline. Brenda was a dedicated hard worker and a natural leader.

Brenda had a knack for entrepreneurship. She embarked on numerous endeavors, such as her first flower business in the early 80’s. She also had her Janitorial Business alongside of her flower shop. Brenda started her Women’s Group Home for women needing assistance with housing, addiction and stability. Her last endeavor was operating a business in Mobility. Operating for seniors who needed affordable transportation to medical appointments, grocery shopping and even leisure. Brenda had an eye and a heart to assist those in need. IF SHE HAD IT, YOU HAD IT WITH A SMILE!

Brenda is preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter, Kayla Baker.

Brenda leaves to cherish her memory: her two sons, Lamont Baker Jr. and Antwan Baker; one daughter-in-law, Antoinette (China) Baker; a loving and faithful friend, Herbert Colvin; fifteen grandchildren, Trevon, Devin, Marquise, Destini, Antwan “Jay”, Amber, Kobe, Qwaye, Taylah, Taliah, Khalil, Taiwan ,Tristen, and Aubree; four great-grands, Anaisha, Kyng, Royal, and Lelania; four sisters, Karen, Faith, Adrienne, and Melanie; two brothers, Marlow Jr. and Leroy ; two sisters-in-law , Vernice and Jackie and host of other relatives and friends.
