AZELINE YOUNG, known as "Lee" to all who knew her, was born to the late Paul Young and Sallie Simmons. Azeline was born March 4, 1944 in Chester County South Carolina. She departed this life on July 31, 2023 after a lengthy illness.
Her parents moved and relocated to Baltimore, Maryland, where she received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. She was employed at numerous jobs in the course of her life before retiring due to illness.
She enjoyed life to the fullest doing the things that made her happy. She also was a family oriented woman. She enjoyed her children, but especially her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She loved her plants and to go shopping every chance she could. Lee had a southern background cooking was the one thing she loved the most. She shared that gift with whomever came her way. We loved and enjoyed going to the house for Sunday Dinners. She was our big Mama cooking up everything we loved and talking trash, just cutting up or playing cards. She would open her doors for those in her circle or family who may have been in need. She would feed anybody it didn't matter who they were if you needed it, and she had it she gave it.
Those who preceded her in death were her sister Pauline Young; five brothers, James McClurkin, Frank McClurkin, Donald McClurkin, John McClurkin and Roosevelt McClurkin.
She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Lori Carter (John), Norline Alston (Roderick), and Juanita Jennings; two brothers, Reverend Ronald McClurkin (Florence) and James Boyd (Drusilla) ; sisters, Rosa Caldwell (Geroge), Shirley Wilkes (Isaac), Bessie Simmons, Dolores Simmons, Faye Bowser-Rouse and Brenda McClurkin; grandchildren, Thomas, Antoine, Latisha, Clarence, Laquita and Ray; one goddaughter, Vernell Thomas; ten great grandkids and a host of nieces and nephews that loves her very much.
Her very close and dearest friends that she leaves behind Beatrice Williams, Andrew Strong, Tony Pittman and Michael Gorman.
