Listen to Obituary

YVONNE JONES, daughter of the late Linwood Newby and Frances Virginia West, was born on July 9, 1950 in Baltimore, Maryland. Yvonne fought a good fight and her victory has been won as she journeyed home to be with the Lord on February 24, 2018.

Yvonne received her formal education in the Baltimore City School System. After attending Eastern Senior High School, she continued her education at Strayer Business College. Yvonne accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at the Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Henry Wilson. In her latter years, Yvonne renewed her fellowship with the Lord and would say when I get better "I'm going back to my home church".

Yvonne was a devoted mother to two beautiful daughters, Tonya and Terrell, who were the two most precious jewels in her life. Tonya and Terrell  were truly the apples of her eyes and she did everything within her power to make sure they had all they needed in this life to be successful. She enjoyed celebrating special times with them, like Christmas. On Christmas, she would always make sure that they had everything on their list and then some.

Yvonne loved spending good times with family. She did not need a special occasion to shower her mother, Frances with flowers and gifts. She shared a special bond with her siblings Roderick an Antoinette. She would always tell them, "I Know you love me".

She had a way of making all her grandchildren, nieces and nephews feel special and would always encourage them to be the best and always strive for the better. Yvonne enjoyed reminiscing and laughing with her cousins and had the high respect and love for all her uncles and aunts.

In 1990, Yvonne met Zackery Kent Jones. They united in Holy matrimony in August, 1991. For 27 years of marriage, they enjoyed being in each other's company and they loved sharing their family stories together and with others.

Yvonne leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Zackery: two daughters, Tonya (Arthur), Terrell; her mother, Frances; one brother, Roderick (Rosa); one sister, Antoinette (Benjamin); 6 grandchildren, Everett, Andre Jr., Jarrell, Terron, Ikea, Arthur Jr.,(TJ), Janelle; seven great-grandchildren, Shamari, Taylor, Everett III, Andre III, Teon, Zoe, Kaiden; two nieces, Danielle and Ashlie; three nephews, Anthony, Benjamin III, Linwood; four great nephews, Eric, Jerron, Linwood Jr. and Benjamin IV; four great-nieces, Diamond, Niyah, Sydney and Chandler; one great-great nephew, Carter and one great-great niece, Alex; five more brother-in-laws, David Jones, Solomon Jones, Willy Earl Jones, Milton Jones and Frederick Joseph Jones; four more sister-in -laws, Elsie Briscoe, Odesta Marie Oliver, Audrey Jones and Diane Harold; two uncles, Henderson (Pauline) and Thomas (Vernell) and a host of other relatives and friends.
