Listen to Obituary

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26

Yolanda Delaney Hall, daughter of the late Catherine M. Moore and Jerome West, Sr., was born on October 26, 1958, in Baltimore, MD.  On May 22, 2022, after a lengthy illness, Yolanda transitioned from her earthly life.  Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God, which she learned at an early age at New Pilgrim Baptist Church and later at New Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her rest.

Yolanda, affectionately known as “Trudy” by all who knew and loved her, was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools.  Trudy was employed by the Church Home and Johns Hopkins hospitals, but as the family started to expand, she enjoyed nothing more than being the “daycare provider” for all that needed her. Trudy made caring for family as well as the neighborhood children her fulltime job until her health no longer permitted her to do so.

The loves of Trudy’s life were her sons, Kevin & Allen and her niece, Andrea, who she cared for many years. While “Dirt”, “Al” and “Newt” may have been a huge piece of her heart, the best parts of Trudy’s days were her 8 grandchildren and her great-granddaughter.  The love that she had for her grandchildren was undeniable and she gave each of them exactly what they needed in her own way.

Trudy was dedicated to her family and would do anything for them. The bond that she shared with her mother and her sisters, Marvina and Esther, was unbreakable. As the oldest, Trudy was the protector and would always be there to care for her sisters and brothers. Getting the family together for Sunday dinner or holidays to share laughs and to show off her cooking skills was her favorite thing to do. Trudy loved life and always found a reason to celebrate. She will be greatly missed by her family, neighbors and the many friends that she made throughout the years.

Trudy leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories, sons, Kevin A. Estep, Jr, (Tennille) and Allen J. Hance, Jr. special niece, Andrea Mussa; grandsons, Kevin and Kajuan Estep, Allen, Ahmod, Amarie and Ahmir Hance; granddaughters, Tori Estep and Ahlana Hance; great-granddaughter, Kalani Estep; sisters, Marvina Hamilton (Vernon), Esther Causion (Don) and Marie Simmons; brothers, James Moore and Jerome West, Jr.; aunts, Mary Brown, Doretha Henderson (Wilbur), and Maxine Gholson; devoted cousins who were more like sisters; Romunda and Lisa Tyler; goddaughter, NicQuel Gary ; 13 nieces and nephews; 15 great nieces and nephews; lifelong friends, Vanessa Fountain, Ethel Gaddy and Darryl Estep; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Trudy was preceded in death by her brother, Orlando Hall, and sister, Maletha Moore
