With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Willie Grey Ethridge, who departed this life on April 14, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on July 8, 1953, in Baltimore, Maryland, Willie lived a life full of quiet strength, heartfelt connections, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
A proud graduate of Mergenthaler High School who was known for his gentle nature, sense of humor, and strong character. While he didn’t pursue them professionally, singing and drawing were hobbies he deeply enjoyed throughout his life—a creative outlet that brought him peace and allowed him to express himself in unique and personal ways.
To his older friends, he was affectionately known as “Cowboy,” a nickname that reflected both his style and the timeless, steady presence he carried with him wherever he went.
Willie was the beloved son of Nan and Willie Ethridge, and a devoted brother to Linda, Bernard, and Barbara. Willie was a loved uncle by his nieces and nephews. He shared a close bond with his family and carried those connections with pride and love.
Following in his father’s footsteps in joining the military, Willie joined the United States Marine Corps at a young age, answering the call to serve his country with honor and dignity. His time in the Marines shaped his values of loyalty, discipline, and service—principles he held onto throughout his life.
Willie Grey Ethridge will be remembered for his kindness, creativity, and quiet strength. He touched many lives and leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and simple joys.
