William "Bubbles" Richards Jr.

WILLIAM O. RICHARDS, JR. (BUBBLES) son of the late William O. and Ethel Richards was born on June 19, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on march 24, 2021 at the age of 84, after battling a lengthy illness.

William received his formal education in the Baltimore City Public School System.

At the age of eighteen, William had a variety of jobs at Rice's Bakery and the American Candy Company. in 1966, he obtained his lifelong job at the Maryland Transit Authority and served with excellence for fifty years, until his retirement in 2015. He was a quiet man with a smile that could lighten up a room, who was well loved at work and in his community.

William was blessed to have a large and loving family. He married his childhood best friend, the former Alma Carlette Lang on March 24, 1956 in Baltimore, MD. They were the epitome of a Notebook love story and shared 65 years of marriage. Out of this union they had one daughter, Antionette (Tonie) and three sons, William III (Anthony), Louis and Ken. During his 65 year union with Alma; they loved to travel with their family and friends on numerous cruise lines and other vacation getaways.

William had a love and passion for bowling, shooting pool and socializing throughout his neighborhood. He also loved Jazz music and sports but always went against the grain of his hometown team the Baltimore Ravens. He was also an avid pet lover when it came to his dogs Tom, Zeke, Bailey and Bella. He was lucky in life and love. Everyone loved Bubs!

He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, one sister, Pauline Davis and three brothers-in-law.

William leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, Alma Carlette Richards (Tiny); one daughter, Antionette Mack (Avon Sr., deceased); one sister, Doris James (Daniel); a special cousin, Clara Myers; three sons, William A. Richards (Denise), Louis Richards (Marguerite), Dr. Ken Richards (Dr. Jana); nine grandchildren, LaKeisha, Avon, Jr. (Shawnte), William IV, Ashley (Eddie), Brittney (Jaquan, Sr.), Chloe, Caleb, Romeo, Michael; eight great grandchildren, Dayasja, Destiny, Kaylin, Lemetrius, Jaire, Carter, Jaquan, Jr., Chase; two great-great grandchildren, Gregory and Khyrie; seven-in-laws, John Lang (Susie), Audrey Williams (Ralph), Earl Lang (Brenda, deceased), Linda Lang, Vernon Lang (Stephanie), Alois Lang, Marie Lang; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
