WILLIAM CARL KEENE, JR., the son of the late
William Carl Keene, Sr. and Rosie S. Keene, was born in Baltimore, Md. On July 5, 1947. William, or "Will " as he was called, was the third of eight children.
Will was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools and was a member of the Dunbar High School Class of 1965. Gifted with exceptional athletic talent, Will lettered in three sports at Dunbar: Baseball , track and basketball. He was most honored to be a member of Dunbar's championship basketball teams coached by
William "Sugar" Cain.
After Dunbar, he enlisted into the U.S.Navy and served during the Vietnam era on the U.S.S. Shangri-La aircraft carrier from 1966-1968.
For a short time, he was joined on that vessel by his brother, Ronald.
Upon His return to Baltimore, Will worked in the school system as a Teacher's Aide, at the U.S. Post Oce and then at Koppers Company. He spent the last twelve years of his life residing in
Martinsburg, W.Va. And working in the V.A. Hospital there.
Will accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age and was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church. During his time in Martinsburg, Will renewed his fellowship with Christ at the New
Destiny Ministry Center. His faith always kept him centered throughout his life's challenges.
Will was an avid reader, a great dancer, and sportsman. But most of all, he was a lover of people. You couldn't have a more loyal friend.
Moreover, he absolutely loved all of his family but especially his sisters, nieces, and daughter of the heart, Tolise Brown. He was preceded in death by his siblings Ronald and Carleen.
Will escaped time into eternity after a short illness on November 16, 2015.
Will leaves to cherish his memory: his sisters; Deborah Williams (Randolph), B. Amanda Jordan, And Annie Keene, brothers; Edward L. Moore (Marcia ), Russell Keene, and Reverend Calvin E. Keene (Vanessa ), nieces: Angela, Ericka (Sean),Tammy (Larry), Danielle, Quieona, Kimberly (Celgen,Sr.), and Jasmine; seven nephews: Randolph Jr. (Yolanda),Kendrick, Stephen, Ronald, Jr. (Danielle), Damian, Devlin, and James. A special friend, "Precious" and a
devoted comrade Bruno.
