William M Hicks , Sr.

WILLIAM RAYMOND HICKS SR. was born to the late Elder Minnis Lee Davis and the late Raymond Gumby. William, affectionately known as "Buddy" was born July 24, 1952 in Baltimore Maryland. After a brief illness he transitioned from Earth to his Eternal Resting Place on November 29, 2022.

He was one of five children, three of which preceded him in death. Cheryl, Lillian and Willette.

He received his education in the Baltimore Public School System. In 1971 he was enlisted in the United States Army. During his tour of duty, he was deployed to serve in Germany. While serving he was trained as a chef then was honorably discharged in 1974. Upon completing his service in the Army, Buddy obtained his cooking degree and later passed along his training to his son Butch. Buddy was employed at Horn and Horn as a Chef until the company went out of business. In 1984, he trained and worked as a Carpenter and worked in Home Improvements until his retirement.

He was introduced to Christ at an early age. Around 2010, he rejoined his childhhood church, House of God Church, Essex, Md., where he was very active and enjoyed cooking and serving others.

He was loved by many and will be sorely missed. Bubby was preceded in death by his second born son, Wayne Lyron Hicks.

he leaves to cherish his memories: three sons, William Jr. (Butch), Windell, and Mathew Hicks; three daughters, La'Tasha, Miracle and Myra Hicks; stepmother, Retha Davis; one sister, Irene Joyner (Anthony), one brother, James (Cornelius) Jackson; twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
