WILHELMENIA(SAMUELS)WILLIAMS, daughter of the late Reverend Preston and Rena Samuels, was born in Sardis, South Carolina on August 28, 1933. After a lengthy illness, God opened his loving arms and welcomed Wilhelmenia home.
Wilhelmenia accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in the river after joining New Zion Baptist Church in South Carolina.
Wilhelmenia was educated in the South Carolina School System.
She met and married the late Lloyd Williams. Wilhelmenia and her family moved to Baltimore in 1961. She joined Charity Baptist Church where she served and fellowshipped until she moved her membership to New David Missionary Baptist Church. There she served faithfully as the founder and President of The Baptist United and later as an associate minister until her health failed and she entered Keswick Nursing Facility.
Wilhelmenia worked as a Para Professional in the Baltimore Public School System and ran summer youth work programs for more than twenty years. In these positions she became a mother figure to hundreds of children and young adults. Wilhelmenia was very sociable and well loved for her straight forward advice and forgiving nature. She was truly a champion for the underserved. She loved God first, family and then community. Wilhelnmenia was a true prayer warrrior. She was often called from her home to pray for anyone in need at any hour-it was her life mission. She was a Charter Member of the Baltimore Chapter of the Carolina Seven, a charitable organization comprised of South Carolina Natives with Chapters across the country raising money to help deserving students stay in school. Her epitapk is 'May the Work I've Done Speak For Me.'
She was preceded in death by: her son, Rodney; her daughter, Cheryl Brice and her son-in-law, Randolph Brice.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her son Anthony Williams(Saundra); two daughters, Janice Williams and Adriene(Williams)Bonds; one bonus daughter, Paula Gillis; four grandchildren, Laini Pettyjohn, Wyonella Brice, Veronique Williams and Tiffany Davis; three great grandchildren, Kayla, Tyler and Chase; an a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
