Wesley Baylor, born to the late Neal Baylor Sr. and Hilda Baylor (McBride) on January 30, 1939, in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on January 2, 2024.
Wes, as he was affectionately known by his family and many friends, was raised and educated in Baltimore County MD. At a young age he moved to Virginia where his grandmother Lucy asked him to go to help his aunt because her husband (Wesley) had passed, and she needed help because they had many small children. Yes, he was named after this uncle.
He was married to the late Shirley (Evans) Baylor and from that union they raised four children.
He was employed at Gordon Mohr Sanitation Services for many years until his retirement.
In the early 70's he and other family members and very close friends, formed a club called the TEN KINGS and Queen. That queen is a very special cousin, Shug. They also like to play cards. His game of choice would be cards, specifically pinochle, which he played with his brother (Bug), other family members and friends.
He was known for always keeping in touch with his family, making sure everyone was ok. The stories of his faithfulness to his family are just too numerous to mention. We all will say he was the protector of our family.
He was a member of Pleasant Zion Baptist church under the leadership of Rev. Perrin. We thank God that after speaking with him, his nephew Ricardo and niece Valerie, he made a confession of faith in Jesus Christ.
We the family thank God for his daughter Sharonda Baylor for how the Lord used her to step in and serve him in such a special way. This allowed him in a short time to form a special bond with his grandson Zion Baylor, who always kept him happy, putting a smile on his face.
Preceded him in death are his children, sons James (Rabbit) Baylor and Lamont (Squirrel) Baylor, daughter Donna(Cula), siblings Neal (Bunkey) Baylor, Raymond (Bug) Baylor and Alice (Pug) Baylor-White.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his biological daughter, Sharonda Baylor; stepdaughter, Gina Evans; two sons, Wesley D. Baylor and Khalia Baylor; brother, Wayne McBryant; sisters, Hythern Bryant, grandchildren, Sharmanique Baylor, Zion Baylor, Kamyia Bugress, (Antonio' Hanes, Tre'maine Frazier, Timothy Watson Jr., Lamont Baylor, Jr., Charnisha, Chantelle, Ronda, Shirley, Apache, Darius, and Wesley Baylor III; nine great grandchildren, Eric London, McKinzey, Malin, Payton, Tyler, Cevyn, Quadair, sincere and a host of nieces and nephews. He also had a supportive Care Team, LeVern, Valerie, Wanda M. and LaWanda S. He had a special Nurse, (his 16 year old granddaughter Kamyia Burgess) who moved in to care for him. He loved Kamyia for that.
