Wendelle Threat

July 18, 1937 — April 25, 2020

Listen to Obituary

Born to the late Annie Nelson and Raymond Mitchell, Wendelle Threat, the youngest of three, gracefully departed this life on April 25, 2020. As a host of angels stood by, she was transitioned forever to be with the Lord after a long battle of cancer.

Wendelle Threat was born on July 18, 1937 in Georgetown, South Carolina and gave her life to Christ at an early age. She attended Georgetown Public Schools, and graduated from Howard High School in 1955. Wendelle’s passion for kids inspired her to get her license to become a Daycare Provider, and did this diligently for over 40 years.

Wendelle met and married Alvin Threat, who preceded her in death, and out of that union, seven daughters were born and raised. She was known for her sarcasm and witty comments. Wendelle was best known for her passion of sewing and was referred to as the “neighborhood seamstress.” She loved family gatherings, watching football, playing Candy Crush, and eating crabs.

Wendelle was affectionately known by everyone as “Mother”, and though she had seven children, God blessed her with plethora of grand and great-grandchildren who she loved with all her heart. How could such a tenacious woman of integrity, respect, elegance, beauty, and grace be so humble that she opened her home and heart to everyone?

After living a full and rewarding life, she leaves to share a legacy of love and devotions to three generations: Seven daughters, Patricia Gill, Beverlyn Threat, Marvalyn Threat, Deborah Trusty, Angela Threat, Jacqueline Threat (who preceded her in death), and Pamela Ayers; Three son-in laws, Pastor Willie Ray Sr., Reginald Trusty, and Nathan Ayers Sr.; One brother Raymond Mitchell (who preceded her in death); Seventeen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, one Goddaughter Shirley Hendricks, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
