Virgil Neal

VIRGIL NEAL, was born on January 23, 1938 to the late Doris Love and Vernon Handy in Baltimore, Maryland.He was one of five siblings.

Virgil received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System. For the majority of his life, he served gracefully and with great joy in the food service industry until his health began to decline.

In 1958,  Virgil met and married Elsie M. (Brown) Neal and of this union they were blessed with five beautiful children.

Virgil was a very true and loving family man, who, without a doubt, loved spending time with his children whom he was very proud of and he would speak of this often. He took great pleasure in cooking, listening to Teddy Pendergrass, Sam Cooke and other artists that would make him sing, dance and just have good old fun, especially when his children were around. He was a father that knew what it meant to spend that quality time with his kids when they were very young, playing jacks, jump rope, skillet and all the games that made his kids happy. His children were the joy of his life! As a young man, Virgil was very charming and outgoing and he was a sharp dresser.

Virgil loved the Lord and he loved to worship at the Israel Baptist Church. He enjoyed waiting in the Narthex, riding in his personal "Cadillac" (his wheelchair) and greeting the various members of the church before service.

On Tuesday, March 12, 2019, after a lengthy illness, with his family by his bedside, God, in His infinite wisdom, saw it was time for Virgil Neal to transition to his eternal home. He will be greatly missed by all.

Virgil leaves to cherish his memory; five children, Carolyn Jones, Gloria White, Rose Cheeks, Vernell Thomas and Joe Neal; three son-in-laws, Warren Jones, Grady White and Timothy Thomas; seven grandchildren, Milton Mondowney, Reggie Moten, Shawn Mondowney, Carlos Johnson, Jovan Neal, Terrell Walker and Vermecia Jones; two brothers, Isaac Jerome Neal and his twin brother, Vernon; three sister-in-laws, Veronica Neal, Barbara Neal and Gloria Brown; a very special friend, Cheryl Perry and her son Ronnie and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
