Vida B. Carter-Wilson, affectionately known as Momma Vida was born in St. Kitts West Indies on March 12, 1939.
As an only child who wanted a big family, she decided to make her own when she met George Duncan. She was blessed with six children from that union.
After struggling to survive on a small island, she looked for better opportunities and decided to move to St. Thomas. There she continued to grow her family and had six more children. Believing it was possible to have a better life for herself and her children in the United States, she moved to Baltimore, Maryland. Her hard work and dedication paid o and she was able to bring her younger children to Baltimore.
She worked as a Nurse and Nanny for over forty years. She sheltered, cared for and would feed anyone, even when she didn’t have much to give. She loved God, her family and the casino.
At the age of 85, she passed away peacefully in her sleep.
She was preceded in death by her daughters Pattris and Esther (Sandy) and her sons Roosevelt , Valentine , Quite , and Austin, whose memories she carried in her heart.
