VERNON C. DORSEY AUGINS, was born on March 23, 1944 to Marquerite Francis Gray and the late George Dorsey, Jr. in Baltimore, Maryland.
In the early morning of Sunday, November 23, 2025, Vernon Courtney Dorsey Augins with his wife and grandson Dony'e by his side, transitioned from his earthly life to external life after a lengthy illness.
Vernon received his education in the Baltimore Public School Systems. He graduated from Baltimore Coty High School in the Class of 1963.
Vernon retired after 36 years as a baker. He shared his passion and love of baking with his family, friends and neighbors. Making deliveries in and around Baltimore, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Washington and Virginia. He also worked for the bureau of Recreation and Parks for 10 years where he officiated and coached. He shared great pride in sending his teams to Championships. Vernon was given the nickname of "Chuck" because he always wore Chuck Taylors. He was an avid sports fan and supported all of the local teams.
Vernon married Elna Brown, they raised four children, Darrell, Brian, Cheryl and Yvonne. Afterwards he met Carolyn Matthews, a union that gave them and daughter Tonya.
On July 23, 1993, Vernon married Regina Turner sharing over fifty-one years of togetherness.
Vernon was preceded in death by his father, George Dorsey Jr., sister, Diane Gray, son Brian Augins, four grand-children and one great-grandchild.
Vernon leaves to mourn and cherish his memories: his loving and caring wife, Regina, his mother, Marquerite Gray, sons, Darrell, Sean Turner (Sammi), daughters, Cheryl, Yvonne Augins, Tonya Matthews and Danielle Stokes, sister Rochelle Matthews, seventeen grandchildren, forty-four great grand children, five great great grandchildren, one devoted friend Harry Logan and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
