Tiny M. Curbeam

Tiny Mae Curbeam was born November 30, 1930 to the late great Sam and Sally Hymon. She was born and educated in Fairfield County, South Carolina.

Tiny began her career early on as a young child and remained in the hospitality field for over 60 years. In 1995 Tiny retired and remained the matriarch of our family until her death on May 1, 2021.

Tiny met and married the late Green Berry Curbeam in 1949. Together they had 7 children and soon after relocated to Baltimore, Maryland in 1964. One thing about Tiny she loved the Lord, once settled she worshipped at New Pilgrim Baptist Church.

Tiny was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She took pride in catering to her family. She genuinely enjoyed cooking for us especially, baking cakes and pies. We’re going to miss her stuffing! She was known for the faces she would make, she would look you up and down and say “hmm” LOL. Tiny had a passion for singing, sewing and serving GOD. She would breakout into a song just as fast as it popped in her thoughts. One of her favorite songs was “what a friend we have in Jesus”.

Tiny made sure she instilled the importance of having a relationship with God in all of her children and grandchildren. Tiny was a founding member at Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist church in 1982, where she remained an active member until her untimely death. She took care of four generations, we are her legacy.

Preceeding Tiny in death, father and mother, Sam & Sally Hymon; husband, Green Curbeam; three sisters, Jannie, Doris & Valerie Hymon; two brothers, Sambo & Ahart Hymon; two sons, Charles and Sam Curbeam; one niece, Evelyn Yarborough and one great-nephew Charles L. Curbeam.

She leaves to mourn one sister, Geraldine; five children, Elizabeth (MacArthur), Willie (Saundra), Green, Shirley, Sarah (Thomas); sixteen grandchildren, Michelle, Angie, Sherri (Bryant), Quetta, Dionne; one special grandchild, whom she raised Nicole; Carnell, Justin (Danielle), Shareka, Charnita (Carroll), Njeri, Ashley,Veronica, Antonio, Kisha, and Lakell; two sister in-laws, Rebecca & Willie Mae, two nieces, Jeanette and Mildred; one god-daughter, Martha; special friend, Miss Inez and a host of great-grand children, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
