On Wednesday, August 12, at 1:57 p.m., Tiffany Evette Holmes- Thornton traded in her red karaoke microphone and her dancing shoes (hi-top red Reeboks) for Heaven.

Tiffany Evette Holmes, daughter of the late Rose Marie Staples and the late Alvin Schanzas Holmes Jr., was born on November 4, 1970, at City Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Tiff, as she was affectionally called, was raised in East Baltimore by way of the Latrobe Homes, Lafayette Courts, and 934 E. Biddle St.

Tiffany received her education through the Baltimore City Public School System and proudly earned her high school diploma through Baltimore City Community College. She was also a member of Walk By Faith Ministries. Tiffany lived life with a spirit that was uniquely her own.

Tiffany was the life of the party. She loved to do her two-step and would outdance anyone to her favorite song, "Set It Off", by Strafe. She also had an angelic voice and could be heard singing her favorite tunes. Two of her favorites were "How Could an Angel Break My Heart" by Toni Braxton and "Angel" by her all- time favorite singer, the original songstress, Anita Baker. Tiffany adored her daughters, Bakiya and Talaya. She would always say that they were her greatest accomplishment. She found great joy in the woman they became.  

On May 27, 2011, Tiffany E. Holmes was joined in holy matrimony with Mr. Gary Thornton Sr. Their love was insurmountable and carried Tiffany through her trials and tribulations. Through this union, Tiffany gained three bonus children: Quwanda, Teqia and Gary Jr. Family was always first and her grandsons all held special places in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Isham and Cornelia Watkins, Alvin Sr. and Mary Holmes, Harden Johnson Sr., and John Pembroke; her uncle, Harden Johnson Jr. (Sonya); her siblings, Theron Robinson and Glenn Wilson Jr.; and her daughter, Quwanda Thornton.

She leaves to cherish her legacy; her husband, Gary Thornton Sr.; daughters, Bakiya, Talaya, Teqia (Jerome), Ebony and Alesia; sons, Gary Jr. and Barry Jr.; sisters, Dawn, Kisha, Alicia and Kinyottia; brothers, Derrick Sr. and Lavar; grandchildren, Gordon IV, Markell, Damond, Jaiden, Jerome Jr., Justice, Jai-Asia, Darius, Denym, Arianna and Treasure; great-grandson, Amazi; grandmother, Emma Pembroke; nieces, Kaylah, Ashley, Kamryn, TyBria, Sherell, Tommi and Shaquetta; nephews, Derrick Jr., DEamon Jr., Darian, Mark Jr., Andre, Dillion, Datwain and Tyrek; uncles, Mark Holmes (Tonya), Charles Johnson (Gilda), Michael Johnson (Helen) and Terry Byrd; aunts, Theresa Holmes, Arlene Hardrick, Basrbara Harvin, Margaret Brown and Terry; great-uncle, Charles Staples; godparents, Pamela Carter, Norman Wilson, Arlene Hardrick and Joann Curtis; god-siblings, Tanya, Nikiiva, Teonya, Sinae and Desmond.
