Thomas E. Smallwood

Today we celebrate the life of Thomas Earl Smallwood, 68 born in Martin County North Carolina, he peacefully passed away on November 30th, 2023 surrounded by loved ones, after a difficult battle with kidney and heart failure.

Thomas Smallwood was born on January 8th, 1955 to Susie Mae Smallwood in the bustling city of Martin County North Carolina. Thomas graduated from Fairmont Jr/Sr High School in 1972. Thomas entered into the Military in October of 1974 and took basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C. for 10 weeks of rigorous training to learn the basics of Self discipline, teamwork, combat skills, night training, hand to hand combat and weapon training, physical training.

After basic training  Thomas went to Advance Individual Training, where he learned his Military Occupational Skills as a Demolition Expert.

After graduation his first duty station was in Bamberg Germany where he served until his Expiration of Service. He then took on a job as a substitute teacher for awhile, after that he worked in the Collection Agency, where he resigned due to his heart issues.

Thomas was preceded in death by his mother, Susie Smallwood and his son Terrell Smallwood Sr.

Thomas was survived by his long time faithful and loving wife Barbara Dickens, son Thomas D. Smallwood, brother, Willie Smallwood, sister Bobbie Smallwood, grandchildren, Charelle Smallwood, Terell Smallwood Jr. and a host of other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
