SYLVESTER WILSON, the son of the late Jesse Wilson and Georgia Wilson, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on January 2, 1947. He entered eternal rest at home on January 30, 2022.
He received his education from the Baltimore City School System, where he graduated from Fairmount Hill Junior High School in 1964. He received certification as a Diesel Mechanic in 1982 at the Diesel Institute of America.
Sylvester enlisted in the United States Army in 1964. He served in the military for a total of five years. he deployed to the Republic of Vietnam where he fought in the Vietnam war. On January 2, 1968, Private Wilson detected a large enemy force and alerted his platoon leader. He was injured in the war and earned numerous awards (Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and a Vietnam Service Medal). On June 17, 1968, he was baptized in Dau Tieng, South Vietnam and accepted Jesus Christ as his savior. He met the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Shirley Dorsey. It was love at first sight. On March 6, 1971, Sylvester and Shirley were united in Holy matrimony, from this union, two children were born.
Sylvester was employed at Bethlehem Steel Shipyard for two years, and from there, he went on to work for General Motors. During his time of employment, he earned a place in the General Motors book of world records by learning 23 jobs in six months. He was able to work every position in the plant. During his 30 year tenure his attendance was impeccable. He was on time and was only late once during his entire career and this was when his alarm clock failed. He retired from General Motors on October 1, 2001.

Sylvester was a caring husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. He believed that a man should provide for his household and family. He was a strict disciplinarian and only desired the best for his family. He was a giving person and would help anyone in need. He enjoyed studying the bible and believed that every person should know the word for themself. The simplest pleasures in life brought him immense joy, like bowling, learning the guitar, photography and going fishing with his granddaughter.
He leaves to cherish his memories; daughter, Michele Bowie of Middle River, son-in-law, Efrem Bowie; son, Isaiah Wilson of Baltimore; one granddaughter, Brittany Williams; one great-grandson, Tristan Chew, three brothers, Reginald Wilson, Joanne Wilson and Terrance Lyles ; a loving and devoted friend, Mr. Sidney Vance and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
