Steven Harris, affectionately known as “Stevie” was born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 21, 1966, and was surprisingly called home on June 28, 2022. ‘Stevie’ now rests with his brother, Robert AlexanderJr., (who preceded him in death).
Stevie received his education in the Baltimore City Public School Systems where he graduated from Carver Vocational Technical High School in 1984, and soon after enlisted in the United States Air Force where he received certifications as a medical service specialist. It was there Stevie began academic pursuits in the military nursing program. He continued matriculations in this discipline until receiving his honorable discharge in 1992. Stevie was diligent in completing his nursing studies well after serving as a soldier, and service agent for his country. As a result, Steven successfully completed certifications in nursing through lifelong learning and educational programs at the Community College of Baltimore County (Essex campus). Stevie was a great worker, and team player in all he would do. Stevie enjoyed working with people as much as he enjoyed being with family and friends. There were so many jobs Stevie was known to have worked in maintaining support for himself and family. Of the many jobs he held, he will be fondly remembered at Sheppard Pratt (Forbush), Good Samaritan Hospital (Nursing PCT- Float Pool). The scope and description of this position was a blessing in disguise for ‘Stevie’: it allowed him the opportunity to “float” from floor to floor helping as the need arose for any patient, he could render aid to. His love for learning never diminished. From biblical scriptures to medical terminology, Steven was not afraid to embrace learning and a new school of thought. ‘Stevie’ received numerous certifications ranging from EKG, venipuncture, and geriatric nursing assistant. As a result, he was blessed with employment at various medical facilities.
At an early age, ‘Stevie’ received Christ as Lord and Savior while attending as a long-time member at Maranatha Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James C. Howard: it was there, Steven was baptized in the name of the Father Son and Holy Ghost. Stevie’s love and conviction for the Lord was always noticeably significant- he was a part of the male choir, regular attendee of bible studies; youth and young adult auxiliaries were just a few of the many places you could find Stevie occupied in the church amongst family and friends... wherever he went, Steven was sure to make friends; with some of whom he stayed in contact with- his passion for the medical profession was unfailing. Not only did he love serving in medical facilities, but ‘Stevie’ also had an appreciation for teaching, and coaching others in learning life skills as a Baltimore County Public School and Sheppherd Pratt systems as a teacher assistant.
Years later, ‘Stevie’ was led to Mount Pleasant Church and Ministries, under the pastorate and anointed teachings of Bishop Clifford M. Johnson Jr., until his death.
We cannot say enough how well-liked ‘Stevie’ was in the community, and amongst so many of his co- workers. His straightforward personality and words of wisdom enlightened his family, friends, and acquaintances time and time again. ‘Stevie’ loved his family and has touched the lives of everyone he has met in a unique way. ‘Stevie’ enjoyed talking and playing with his nieces, nephews and creating a special bond through laughter. No matter how his day went, he always made time for them.
