Sidney Zeke Fields, son of the late Isabelle D. Lewis and Welford Fields was born on August 30, 1934, in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life quietly at his home on June 15, 2025.
Sidney was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in 1954. He enlisted in the United States Army after graduating from high school. He served faithfully until his honorable discharge in 1963. He was employed at Lucent Technologies, in Allentown Pennsylvania was formerly known as Western Electric and retired after 30 years of service.
In later years he attended St. Philip’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. He faithfully served as an usher, greeter and a member of the Lutheran Men in Mission Organization.
He was an avid sports fan that loved all sports. His passion for basketball was evident while he was on the court or watching the game. He was a devoted fan of the Boston Celtics and rarely missed a game. He was a devoted fan of Dunbar High School’s sports teams and loved attending the games as well as supporting the young athletes of the community. He had a magnetic personality and had numerous friends. He was affectionately known as “Zeke” to his friends. Wherever he went, there was always someone who knew him. He had a passion for traveling and exploring new places. Watching old movies and television shows were at the top of his list. The Lone Ranger was one of his favorite shows.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory: nieces Cynthia Fields-Phillips, Celeste Fields, Hillarie Fields, Gina Fields, and Liz (Nikki) Fields; great-nieces, Nikia Young, Brittany Young and Danika Young; great-nephew Sean Phillips; Sister-in-Law, Artis Fields; Special Friends: Juanita Montgomery and Lloyd D. Jones, Sr. and a host of other relatives and friends.
