Shirley E.
McNeil
Jun 11, 1941 — May 28, 2026
Shirley Elizabeth McNeil was born on June 11,1941 to the late Dorothy Ray and Thomas Harvin in Sumpter, South Carolina. She departed this life on Thursday, May 28, 2026, into the safe arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Shirley was the oldest of three children and was affectionately known as Blacky or Mac.
She graduated from George Washington Carver Vocational High School in Baltimore City with a diploma in Retail Services. During her work study program, she worked at various retail stores. After graduating she worked at several department stores. Afterwards she worked with adults with Special Needs as a Supervisor and retired in 1999 from Chimes at BWI. Shirley spent five years with Future Care of Courtland until her last days.
Shirley loved music and would dance you under the table with her wheelchair. She loved to gamble and go to the casinos. Lady Mac loved Oldies but Goodies, but she really loved listening to gospel music especially anything Yolanda Adams.
Her cooking skills were unmatched. Her sweet potato pies were so good that her children would purchase them from her, especially Kim (that’s called a side hustle). She enjoyed seafood and going out with her kids. She also loved her family and friends. Shirley was a comedian and a Social Butterfly. She was so popular that she was known as “The Mayor of Future Care” and a Social Media phenom. She will be sorely missed at Future Care.
Preceding her in death were her two brothers Thomas Harvin Jr. and Stanley Roberts, two sons Wayne and Delroy McNeil, and a devoted friend Mr. Roy Davis.
She leaves to celebrate her life devoted sister Betty Allen that loved her dearly and Charlene. Her legacy is her children DeWayne McNeil (Jamie), Rhonda, Rodney, (Kayla), Kim, Michael and daughter- in- law Leslie McNeil; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; four godchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
