Sherman R. Barksdale Jr.

Sherman Ross Barksdale Jr., son of the late Sherman Ross Barksdale Sr. and Carrie Mae Barksdale was born on May 28th, 1959 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed his life on May 28th, 2021 after a brief illness.

Sherman graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School in 1977 and served in the United States Army in 1979. He enjoyed listening to old school music, playing cards with a cold Heineken and a soft pack of Newport Shorts on the side.

Sherman affectionately known as “Ice” didn’t take no mess from anyone.  He was a “Smooth Guy “, whose favorite saying was, “IT is what IT is”. He carried a huge heart full of love that he shared with those he held a great deal of affection for.

Sherman was preceded in death by his sister Karen Barksdale.

He leaves to mourn his mother, Carrie Mae Barksdale, two daughters Sherna’ Barksdale-Wells, Vernell Barksdale, one son Sherman Ross Barksdale III, son-in-law William Wells, four sisters Kim Scott, Denise Bartee,  Cherie Smith, Janet Brooks, four brothers Donnell Barksdale, Eric Barksdale, Greg Barksdale, Destry Barksdale, four grandsons, two granddaughters, one great-granddaughter and countless relatives and friends.
