Listen to Obituary

Sharon Lynn Forrest, daughter of the late Barney and Elizabeth Moore, was born on October 24, 1950, in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on October 4, 2018, after a brief illness.

Sharon received her formal education in the Baltimore City Public School System, graduating from Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School. Sharon matriculated to Coppin State College where she received a B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education and completed graduate courses at Towson State University. Shortly after high school, Sharon was united in holy matrimony to Michael Frederick Forrest and from this union one daughter was born, Charese.

As a child, Sharon became a member of St. Paul Christian Community Church and later became a member of the Garden of Prayer Baptist Church, where she was an active member. Sharon was a Deaconess, and over the years, served on various ministries such as, the Junior Pastor’s Aide, Pastoral Anniversary; Women’s Day, Board of Christian Education, Culinary, Scholarship Committee and was a member of the choir.

Sharon was an educator in the Baltimore City Public School System for over forty years. She was a beloved member of the Liberty Community, where she taught generations of families. Sharon made every holiday special for her students. Many will long remember the annual Thanksgiving dinners, with all the xings; dying eggs for Easter and the delicious, homemade Easter cakes; and trips to the pumpkin farm. Sharon had a love for younger children. She nurtured, supported, and encouraged students to set goals and reach for success. She was a gifted teacher and teaching Pre-K was her passion.

Known for her wisdom, generosity, gift to discern, and her welcoming smile, Sharon was always more than willing to help those in need. She was a woman of virtue, great strength, obedient to God and loyal to church, family, friends and her school community. Sharon always demonstrated compassion and love for others.

Sharon leaves, to cherish her memory, one daughter, Charese; Calvin (son-in-law), three grandchildren, Jonah, Sydney, and Rachel; Neesie (sister), Darren (brother), Natalie (sister-in-law); Dorothy Campbell (sister); two nieces (Tiany, Lynde’ya), and one nephew (Darren, Jr.); two aunts, Mary (Horsey) and Jestine (Brown); Apostle Melvin B. Tuggle, II (favorite cousin and Pastor); a host of cousins; and lifelong friends, Genora, Bert, Penny and Marvell.
