SHANNA DENISE "CANDY" STEWART, M.S. CAC-AD departed this earthly life peacefully in her home on January 25, 2026 after a brief illness. Candy was the daughter of a 1975 Baltimore City High School Knight, the late Reginald Eugene "Reggie" Stewart Sr. and a 1977 Dunbar High School Poet, Pauline Sheila " Peggy" Stewart. She was born to the childhood sweethearts on October 28, 1977. a Scorpio. She was the first grandchild in both families and was immediately and deeply cherished and treasured.

Shanna grew up in East Baltimore with deep familial roots, forming lifelong friendships along the way, and becoming affectionately well known as "Candy", She carried the confidence to go exactly where she wanted to go and the audacity to be exactly who she wanted to be. When she entered a room, she would often announce, "I have arrived." though her presence alone effortlessly drew light and required no introduction. Baltimore's own socialite, Candy had a remarkable gift for remembering even the briefest acquaintance, including their stories, family histories, and accomplishments. Always quick with a smile, her most magnetic quality was her ability to love boldly and laugh out loud.

In her early life Candy was baptized at St. John Christian Community Church and attended Elmer A. Henderson Elementary School, followed by Cathedral Christian Academy at Broadway and Biddle Street for middle school. Candy was a proud 1995 Western High School Dove. Shanna later earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master's degree in Psychology from Coppin State University. She was also a certified addiction professional, holding a credential as a Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug through the Maryland Department of Health Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists.

In her personal and professional life, Shanna demonstrated an unwavering work ethic and a deep commitment to caring for others, particularly children, the elderly, and individuals struggling with addiction. She consistently offered compassion, dignity, and understanding to those navigating some of life's hardest moments. At the time of her passing Candy was working as a Substance Use Disorder counselor, guiding her clients to wellness with empathy, patience and genuine care. Her life and work reflected a commitment to meeting people where they were, shaped by her own journey.

Shanna Denise "Candy" Stewart was preceded in death by her father Reginald Eugene Stewart Sr. She is survived by her mother Pauline Sheila "Peggy" Stewart, sister Dr. Nichole Michele "Cookie" Stewart, brother Reginald Eugene "Reggie" Stewart Jr., maternal aunt Angela "Susie" Brown and uncle Guy Davis, paternal aunts Cleo Stewart, Leisa Winchester, Shirley Stewart, and uncle Tony Stewart, great grand aunt Angela "Sis" Curbean, dear cousin Beverly Fauntleroy, first cousins, Timothy, Matthew, William, Kayla and Michael, godfather Adrian Stokes, nieces and nephews, Melanie, Dior, A'Miracle, Reginald III, and Ry'john, godchildren Billy/Mook, Malia, Mahogany, CJ, and Morgan. Candy was mother to felines Preston and Callie and aunt to canines the late Spike, Dash and Hoobie. She leaves to mourn a host of friends, second cousins, students, colleaques, classmates, clients and neighbors.
