Sarah Elizabeth Parker was born to the late George Bryant and Lula Mae Jones on February 22, 1925, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. She departed this earthly home on August 9, 2022 at the Autumn Lake Nursing Home in Crofton, Maryland.
A Time To Plant Sarah received her early education in schools in North Carolina. Sarah often remarked about her early childhood, on her grandfather Lee Jones’ farm and the strong family unity enjoyed. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior early in her childhood, as the family often worshiped together in Rocky Mount, NC. During her teenage years, Sarah moved to Baltimore, Maryland. She attended and graduated from Baltimore City Public Schools. Sarah studied Nursing during her high school years. Prior to becoming a homemaker, Sarah worked in nursing and senior healthcare.
Sarah met and married the love of her life, Willie Parker during the early 1940’s. Willie predeceased her in 2001. Out of this union, they were blessed with one son, Herbert Lee Parker in 1947. Herbert also predeceased Sarah in 2009.
Sarah gave her life to Christ at a very young age. She was a member of First Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church since 1963. Sarah was a faithful servant in the Usher Ministry, serving as an officer, and always on time and ready to serve. Sarah loved marching and attending church Usher anniversaries. Sarah loved her church and church family, and she was a dedicated soldier for the Lord.
Sarah was a praying woman who enjoyed going to church, cooking (minced barbecue was her specialty), and attending family/friends’ gatherings. Sarah was loved by all, especially for her great sense of humor. She was a giving and very caring person. Sarah was independent, conservative and feisty, and capable of caring for herself, up until a few months prior to her passing. Sarah was very genuine and had a heart of gold. She remembered all birthdays and anniversaries to many, making sure that each person received a card and gift for their special occasion. She was also well known for stuffing money into your hand upon sight to make sure that you were recognized and blessed by her presence.
A Time To Receive Her Reward On the sunset of August 9, 2022, Sarah left her earthly home to receive her reward. She left to mourn her granddaughter, Peyton Parker. She left one sibling, Larry Bryant, who she loved dearly. Sarah left a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as many other family members and friends. Sarah also left her beloved Maltese Poodle, Charley, who has been her companion and protector for the past 13 years. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ethel Walker, and brothers Herman and Al Bryant.
