Sarah Bell

Sarah Bell born to the late James and Cecilia Santos on April 10th, 1925. Sarah married the late Herman Charles Bell on April 18, 1942, form this union nine children were born, Herman Bell (proceeding her in death, Purnell, Penelope, Phillip, Reginald, Ronald) Marianna, Jacqueline, and Roberta Bell.

Sarah attended Baltimore City Public School, she worked various jobs her most memorable employments were at Lou’s Cut Rate and Bernie Paul’s both located on Orleans St. in 1998 Sarah retired from the Goodwill Industries “Willies” as she called it.

Sarah affectionally known as “Granny” loved going to the casinos, playing cards with family and friends, as she aged loved sitting in her kitchen playing solitary, Granny also loved to cook for family and friends no matter the occasion she was always willing to make her famous Sauerkraut and Yak Ka Mein. She enjoyed going to family functions.

Granny loved, sitting on her front porch greeting EVERYBODY who went pass, and feeding the birds. She also loved watching the kids go to school in the morning and getting picked up in the afternoon. She was the neighborhood’s Granny.

Granny had an infectious sense of humor, she always like to tell stories of the good times she had when she was young, one of her most memorable, was when her and a group of her friends went swimming, it started raining, her friend told her to get under the water and she wouldn’t get wet (she did). Whenever you asked Granny how she was doing, she would always answer “I’m still kicking, just not as high”. She loved it when her family would visit her, no matter who was visiting, when you left you had something in your hand whether it was old, new, tattered or torn, you took it.

Granny leave to cherish her memory four children Herman Bell (Basie) Marianna Davis (Penny) Jacqueline Boone (Jackee) Roberta Bell (Bobbi), two sisters Madeline Santos and Sharon (Mark) Weems, one Sister-In-law Delores Bell, one Daughter-in-law Joanne Bell (Ronnie), 22 Grand Kids, 49 Great grands, Numerous great great grands and a host of nieces , nephew, cousins and friends .
