Samuel Jones Jr.

Samuel Jones Jr. was born on December 19, 1946, in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on November 26, 2022, at home following a brief illness. He was the son of the late Sarah Dancey and late Samuel Jones Sr.

Samuel received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System. Samuel was employed at Mercy Medical Center where he held several different positions and later became an O.R. technician in 1994. Sam retired on September 12, 2011.

Samuel better known as Doc to all his friends met Mary best known in her community as “Mousey”, the two fell in love and married on January 27, 1966. From this union Eric, Kevin, Samuel and Cedric Jones were conceived and adored by both.

Doc was a fun, loving, determined and a strong-willed man. He expressed his opinions in a very passionate manner. He took pride in both his appearance and home. Visiting Doc at his home was always a pleasure and he loved cooking with his own recipes. Doc enjoyed time hosting family gatherings, listening to oldies but goodies, watching Raw Smack Down, old western movies and cross word puzzles. Doc shared a close relationship with his only remaining brother, Edward Foster known to all as Junior.

Doc accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal savior at a very young age.

He was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. Samuel was proceeded in death by his  brother, Willie Foster; son, Eric Jones; mother, Sarah Dancy; sister, Shirley Woodson; and father, Samuel Jones, Sr.

Samuel leaves to cherish in his memory, his dedicated and loving wife Mary Jones. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sons Kevin, Samuel and Cedric Jones. One brother Edward Foster, one sister Jeannette Bruce, and one Aunt Nancey Crosby and six grandchildren: Cynthia, Leaisha, Kevin, Dominic, Eric, and Kaylah Jones. Four great-grand Children: Kamari Aniyah Jones, Dominque Jones, Deandre King Sweet, and Deniera Jones. Three daughter-in-law’s Erica, Aleisha, and Phlonda Jones. Four sister-in-law’s Diane, Gale, Marliyn Purnell and Carolyn Foster. Two brother-in-law’s Theodore Purnell and Anthony Smoot. A very special Daughter-in-law Erica Jones, and a very special close friend Windfred Crosby who was like a brother. A special niece, Tolise, who always made a way to delivery her Uncle Doc cupcakes weekly.
