Sammie L. Clowney

SAMMY LEE CLOWNEY, son of Dorothy Clowney and the late Samuel Lee Clowney, Sr. was born on January 14, 1960, in Baltimore, Maryland. He received his formal education in the Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated from Patterson Senior High School in June of 1978.

Sammie started working at a very early age. He was employed by the Baltimore City Department of Public Works. However for many years he was employed by Harvest Fare Supermarket where he primarily worked overnight.

Raised in a Christian Home, Sammie would often attended worship services at the United Baptist Church after a night of work. Sammie was an obedient person. He loved his family and thought the world of his mother. As a young man growing up, no matter what was going on in his life and conforming to his upbringing, he never brought his problems home.

Sammie loved sports. He loved the Ravens and wrestling. Every Monday and Friday night you could find him in front of the television anxiously waiting to watch each wrestling match. One of his favorite foods was mashed potatoes and gravy.

On January 1, 2025, after a brief illness Sammie passed from labor to reward.

Sammie was preceded in death by his brothers Anthony and Lamont and his father Samuel Clowney, Sr.

Sammie leaves to mourn his four children, Sammie Clowney, Michael Clowney (Amanda), Lukea Clowney, Shamea Clayton (Johnnie); twelve grandchildren, Mikekeal Clowney, Mikequel Clowney, Demon Clowney, Shyheim Clowney, Zion Clayton, Makhi Davis, Shamar Clowney, Keon Clowney, Nyaer Clayton, Samira Clowney, Samiya Clayton and Messiah Wallace; two great-grandchildren, Malaya Clowney and Mason Clowney, his mother, Dorothy Clowney; five brothers, Raymond Clowney, James Clowney, Michael Clowney (Sherille), Reginald Clowney and Samuel Clowney, Jr.; two aunts, Hellen Clowney and, one uncle, one god-daughter, Beyonce and a host of nieces, nephews cousins other relatives and friends.
