SALLIEANN DELORIS (THORNE) BOLLING, the oldest daughter of tj late Howard and Emma Thorne, was born on September 14, 1938, in Littleton, North Carolina. On September 25, 2022, the almighty God gently closed the eyes of our beloved Sallie as she entered into eternal rest.
Sallie's parents introduced her to Jesus Christ at an early age, she was baptized and became a member of Lee's Chapel Baptist Church in Littleton, North Caroline. She served on the children choir, youth board and Sunday School. Every first Sunday Sallie and her siblings would worship with other family churches in the county. Later on, Sallie was led to join Zion Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland under the leadership of Pastor Marshall Prentice. Whom she loved to hear spread the word of the Lord.
Sallie received her education in the Halifax County, North Carolina School System, graduating from Mclver High School class of 1956. Sallie loved to drive the school bus when she became of age, this job kept her from working on the farm. After graduation Sallie decided to move to Baltimore, Maryland. Sallie gave birth to her only child "Gregory Venson" in 1959. Gregory was the first grandchild to Sallie's parents, and he was loved by everyone.
While residing in Baltimore she enrolled in The Cortez Peters Business College. There she studied Shorthand, Typing and Bookkeeping and gain her certificate. While being enrolled in school, Sallie gained her first job with John Hopkin Hospital in Housekeeping. As a child, Sallie loved reading the newspaper with her grandfather. She later moved her employment to The Baltimore Afro-American Paper. Sallie loved working with the AFRO, she often did many of their citywide events spotlighting Black Culture. Sallie also was employed with The Bethlehem Steel Company and GAF Roofing Company supervising in the Accounting Office where she retired after 26 years of service.
Sallie enjoyed traveling with her sister Jannet and cruising the Seas with her girlfriends Jean Scott and Juanita Dates. Sallie had the opportunity to travel to Johannesburg, South Africa with her cousin Eva Jones. There she fell in love with the children she met at the nearby school. Sallie would greet them each afternoon with candy and treats. Sallie loved to bowl in various leagues, fishing with her son Gregory and great niece, Micaia, playing BINGO and cooking the families Thanksgiving Turkey for her niece Tess. Sallie enjoyed life to the fullest and she was always the life of any event.
Sallie preceded in death, her parents Howard and Emma Thorne; sister, Jannet Walker and Wilma Thorne; brother, Howard Thorne; nephew, Howard (Tim) Thorne and brother-in-law, Walter (Curley) Walker.
Sallie leaves to cherish in her loving memories; son, Gregory Venson; brother, Wilbert (Buck) Thorne; sister, Brenda Gadson, brother-in-law Herman Gadson, sister-in-law, Mildred Thorne; only living aunt Pearline Thorne of North Carolina, Nieces, Teffina (Tess) and Bertina (Gadson) Jones; nephews, Calvin Thorne and Michael Brickus; great nieces and nephews, Micaia (Caia) Brickus, Latoya Thorne, Karissma Thorne, Howard (TJ) Thorne, Corey and Dominique Thorne, Godchild, Cherelle S, a host of cousins and friends.
