Rosa L. Wellons

Rosa Lee Wellons departed this life peacefully at the age of 91 on July 20, 2021 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She was born November 13, 1929 in Durham North Carolina to the late William Taft Hooper and Rosetta Ingram-Hooper.

Rosa was the second oldest out of her four siblings, the late Clarence Lee, Maggie, Mary, and one living sibling Barbara.

Rosa was a gifted and honor student who graduated from Douglas High School in Baltimore Maryland.

She married the late Robert Lee Wellons on July 21, 1963 and raised 9 loving children. She also worked for Bell Atlantic in Newark, New Jersey. She transferred to Baltimore Maryland where she worked at Verizon Wireless for several years until retirement to care for her mother.

Rosa loved to love on people. She loved to travel and spend quality time with her family. She was totally dedicated to her children in all aspects of their lives. Rosa enjoyed singing, laughing, dancing, and playing cards with one of her besties/cousin Marie MCclellan.

She also shared her love with food such as potato salad and chicken casserole.

Rosa was a member of Garden of prayer Baptist church and the Word of God. Rosa loved all of her family and most importantly she loved God.

She leaves to mourn: sons, Warren, Roderick, James, Jerome, and Albert; daughters, Wendy, Robin, Coretha, and Corrina; sister, Barbara; daughter in laws, Barbara Nunnally and Evette Wellons; soon to be daughter in law, Bettye Geyen; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, great great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family.
