Listen to Obituary

Rosa Kathleen Stallworth, beloved servant of Almighty God, peacefully transitioned from earth to Glory, on Sunday, July 14, 2024, where she is now in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Kathleen (known as Kathy to many of her friends/family), was born on December 26, 1941, in Nottoway County, Virginia. She was the tenth sibling of twelve children, blessing the union of Ludelia and Willie Neal, Sr.

Kathleen attended public schools in Nottoway County, Virginia, and graduated from Luther H. Foster High School with the class of 1960.

After moving to Baltimore, she met and fell in love with Joseph Stallworth, Jr., at which time he declared to her “you’re going to be my wife”, and she replied in a soft voice “maybe so”.  On April 4, 1969, they were joined in holy matrimony, and was blessed with six children.

Kathleen worked for The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond for 26 years until she retired in 2001. She never missed a day from work, which she received recognition for by the bank.

Kathleen was baptized at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church in Blackstone, Virginia. Kathleen and her husband joined Zion Hill Baptist Church in the 1970’s, where he was ordained as a Deacon, and later became charter members of New Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. With the ordination of her husband to Deacon, she became a Deaconess where she served faithfully. Also, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, she was a member of the Pastor’s Aide, The Willing Workers’ Ministry, President of the Deaconess Ministry, member of The Wedding Decorating Ministry, and The Culinary Ministry.

Kathleen was a very special “Lady” to many. She devoted her life to her family and church by honoring God and fulfilling his will according to his word. When a helping hand was needed, she was always there to assist.  She was a strong woman with a gentle and humble spirit. She had the most beautiful smile and soft voice; and was clothed with grace and dignity. The impact she had on everyone she came in contact with will be long-lasting. Kathleen was a very “Positive” person, always encouraging others, even when they called to encourage her. She truly showed the gift of God in her life.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Larry, Travis and Rodney.

Leaving to cherish her memory are: her husband, Joseph Stallworth, Jr.; sons, Tyrone Neal, Joseph Stallworth III, Tony Stallworth: daughter-in-laws, Carlene Neal, LaTawnya Stallworth and Theresa Stallworth: six grandchildren, three of whom she helped raise, Tyrone Neal, Jr., Jordan and Brandon Stallworth; sister, Carrie Hicks; sister-in-laws, Pauline Neal, Rebecca, Carolyn, Rhoda, Linda, Zenetta, and Towanda Stallworth; brother-in-laws, William Hicks, Thomas Jennings, James Poindexter, Mentor, John, Larry, Mitchell and Darrell Stallworth; special nieces, Sandra Walker, Latrice Johnson, and Tiffany Burrell; special friends, sister Lorraine Johnson, sister Hazetta Brooks, and sister Vonda Mitz, and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
