Robert Earl Huff Sr. was born on February 28th 1948, to the late John Huff Jr and Louise V. Huff in Baltimore , MD.
He was educated in the Baltimore school system and was a proud graduate of Dunbar Highschool of 1966. He lettered in football and wrestling. He was also a member of the NUT Fraternity that was composed of young males, the majority being from black highschools in Baltimore city. His childhood was centered around the 1700 block of N. Spring St. It was there he had the fortune of having his mother and grandmother raise him, the second oldest child and his siblings, JoAnn, Ronald, Elmer and Wilbert.
Robert developed a strong work ethic early in life. As a young boy, He and one of his best friends Barry had a paper route that played a significant role which taught them the value of work and earning an honest living early in life. He and his two best friends, Barry and Carville were thick as thieves from elementary school through their adult lives. While in highschool he met Theresa Lloyd who eventually became his wife. From this union, one son was born, Robert E. Huff Jr.
Following highschool he performed many jobs. He liked taking tests from employers just to prove that he could perform the job. He was a very intelligent man. One of the first positions he held was as a Correctional Officer for Baltimore city. He left the correctional system and joined the Baltimore city fire department as a firefighter. From there he decided to take a different route and see the world. He became a merchant marine seaman. When he would return from the sea, he drove for the Yellow Cab company, always keeping busy with work. This was his favorite hustle. Once he permanently returned from the sea, he became a Sky Captain for BWI airport until sadly 9/11 happened and changed how baggage handling was performed.
After retirement, he drove school buses and his cab keeping his day's busy and pockets lined. Once he slowed his hustle, he began to spend time with his grandchildren, Robert III and Ro'Chelle Louise. They thoroughly enjoyed spending time with their grandfather. As young children he was always able to make them laugh and put a few dollars in their tiny hands.
He was the last surviving of his siblings. He leaves to carry on his legacy his son Robert Jr, grandson Robert III, grand daughter Ro'Chelle Louise, daughter in law Yvette, his nephews Howard Garnes Sr, Ronald Huff Jr and Elmer Jr. His nieces, Phaedra Garnes, Kai Huff and a host of other relatives and good friends.
He lived life to the fullest and by his own rules.
