REVEREND FRANK JOHNSON BELL was born on October 20, 1924, in Green Bay, Virginia, to the late Johnson Bell and Florence Rowlett Bell. After a life marked by faith, service and devotion to God, he entered eternal rest on May 22, 2026, at the age of 101.
A proud son of Green Bay, Virginia, Reverend Bell was the grandson of Jacob and Bettie Fowlkes Rowlett. He received his education at Levi Baptist School, where he attended from first grade through twelfth grade and graduated. The values of faith, family, education and hard work learned during those years remained with him throughout his life.
At an early age, Reverend Bell accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and answered the call to discipleship during a revival service. He was baptized at Levi Baptist Church, where he became an active member of the Sunday School, Church School and Choir. These early experiences nurtured a deep love for God and prepared him for a lifetime of Christian service.
Determined to grow in his knowledge of God's Word, Reverend Bell attended Seminary College in Lynchburg, Virginia, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Theology. He later earned a Master's Degree in Church Administration. His passion for learning never diminished. Throughout his life, he attended conferences, seminars, workshops and continuing education opportunities, always striving to become a more effective servant of God.
Reverend Bell was ordained as a Gospel preacher at Faith Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland, under the leadership of Dr. Walter E. Paige. His ministry was characterized by wisdom, humility, compassion and unwavering faith.
Over the years, he served as Associate Pastor of Prince of Peace Baptist Church and Associate Pastor of Faith Baptist Church. He also served as President of the Evening Pastor's Conference and faithfully shepherd Seven Angels Baptist Church as Pastor for a period of time. In later years, hr served as Associate Pastor of The Grace Memorial Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland, where he remained a trusted spiritual leader, mentor, teacher and friend.
In addition to his ministry, Reverend Bell enjoyed a successful career with Bethlehem Steel Corporation. Through his work and service, he demonstrated the values of diligence, integrity and excellence that defined his character.
Reverend Bell was united in marriage to the love of his life, the late Audrey Bell. Together they shared a loving home and raised their daughter, Candace Bell Williams.
Reverend Bell's enduring legacy of faith, service and devotion will live on through his daughter, Candace Bell Williams; grandson, Paul Williams; granddaughter, Aaliyah Williams; great-grandson, Amirion Williams; special cousin, Felicia Seale King; and the many relatives, church members, friends and countless lives he touched throughout his remarkable 101 years.
