Rebecca V. Carter

REBECCA VIOLET CARTER was born Rebecca Violet Young on June 1, 1924. She was the youngest daughter of Pauline Young. Her older sister Ruth preceded her in death.

Rebecca departed this life after a lengthy illness to be with her Heavenly Father on November 21, 2016 at 2:30am.

She married Lawrence Carter in 1943 and was the mother of ten children, three of which preceded her in death (Larry, Kcasson and Anthony).

Rebecca was a member of the Shepard Community Baptist Church where Pastor Andrew Ferges was the pastor and performed duty as an usher.

Rebecca was survived by her children Enois (Leon), Donna, William (Nancy), Aaron (Drenda), Reginal, Mark (Linda) and Tina (Bruce). She had twenty-four grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren.

Rebecca, affectionally known as Dukie, was a lifelong homemaker, but held several jobs within the Baltimore City area. She encouraged her children to live a good life and to be kind to others. Many of the neighborhood children affectionally called her Miss Dukie. She welcomed all friends of her children into her home.

She was the last Young of her generation living to the age of ninety-two.

She will be missed by family and friends, but mostly by her children.
