Listen to Obituary

RAYMOND ANTHONY BLACK, was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Patricia A. Black and the late Hoyt Black, Jr. on June 16, 1966.

Raymond departed this earthly life on Friday, March 1, 2024 after a lengthy illness.

Ray spent summers in Orangeburg, South Carolina with his grandparents. His grandmother, Geneva, did not play about her Raymond. He reminded her of her husband and her son. Ray's dad. After spending summers there, he went on to finish high school there.

Ray graduated from Orangeburg, Wilkinson High School. Growing up, Ray was a ladies man. He loved the ladies and thought all the ladies loved him.

As he continued to grow and seek a brighter future, following high school, he went on to join the United States Army in 1985. While in the Army, he was united in holy matrimony to wife, Tanya. From this union, they were blessed with two sons.

After his discharge, he returned to Baltimore where he worked alongside his mom to support the family business. While working together, they would fuss all day, but at the end of their day she would cook him a delicious meal that they would sit and enjoy together.

Ray loved watching football on Sundays. He was a Cowboys and Rams fan. He also loved to play the lottery. He was the definition of a true giver. If he hit, those around him hit as well. Ray appeared quiet always watching things around him, but if you were to engage in conversation with him you would know that Ray was wise and had his own theories about everything.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Patricia and Hoyt Black, Jr.; his loving and praying grandmother, Geneva Black, his son, Raymond A. Black ,Jr.; and his brother, Ronald Tillman.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Morandice Davien Black; his sister, Patricia Brown (Gregory), two brothers, Milton Tillman, Jr., and Kent Tillman, six nieces, five nephews, and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
