Ponce Deleon Chambers, was born on March 10, 1938, in Person County, Roxboro North Carolina, to the late William M. Chambers and Mary E. Crawley Chambers.
On Friday June 24, 2016 at Franklin Square Hospital he departed this life after a lengthy illness.
Ponce was the fourth of nine siblings, five preceded him in death, Floyd Chambers, Odella S. Chambers, Barbara D. Chambers, Reginald W. Chambers and Shirley Chambers-Coleman.
Ponce was educated in the Public School System, he loved everybody and everybody loved him. He loved the Lord, even while in the nursing home he would keep patients awake at night singing spiritual songs especially "Nearer My God to Thee and Jesus Love Me, Yes I Know".
While growing up on the farm he was very active and funny hanging with his brothers making toys and weapons out of wood just to name a few, wagons, sleds, popguns, sling shots bow-n-arrows, etc etc.
Ponce loved to chew gum, race cars, ride horses, mules, cows and bulls, yes COWS and BULLS!!!
He leaves to cherish his memory: Three siblings, William Newell Chambers, Coolidge Chambers and Minnie G. Chambers; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and other relatives and friends.
