PHYLLIS REGINA (JEFFERSON) LLOYD was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on March 31, 1953, to the late Mr. Milton Johnson and Loveline Johnson. On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, she peacefully transitioned from labor to reward, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, compassion, and unconditional love. 

Phyllis was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and developed a lifelong passion for learning and helping others reach their fullest potential. She continued her education by earning her Bachelor's Degree from Towson State University and Master’s Degree from John Hopkins University, preparing for a career that would positively shape the lives of countless students, educators, and families. 

For more than forty years, Phyllis faithfully served the Baltimore City Public School System, where she built an exemplary career marked by professionalism, excellence, and unwavering dedication. Beginning as a classroom teacher, she inspired generations of students with patience, high expectations, and genuine care before advancing to the role of Assistant Principal, from which she recently retired in 2023. Throughout her distinguished career, she was admired by colleagues, teachers, administrators, students, and parents alike for her wisdom, integrity, and compassionate leadership. She believed that every child deserved an advocate and every educator deserved encouragement. Many teachers found in Phyllis not only a leader but also a trusted mentor who generously shared her knowledge, nurtured leadership in others, and celebrated the success of those around her. Education was never simply her profession; it was her ministry.

 While her professional accomplishments were significant, Phyllis's greatest joy was found within her family. She shared a loving marriage with the late William Eric Lloyd, Sr., and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and enduring values. From their union came two beloved sons, William Eric Lloyd, Jr. and Jamaal Edward Lloyd, who remained the pride and joy of her life. 

Phyllis embraced life wholeheartedly and believed that some of life's greatest treasures were the memories made with those you love. She cherished traveling and eagerly looked forward to every opportunity to explore new places. Whether visiting exciting destinations, enjoying a friendly game of bowling, or trying her luck at a favorite casino, she approached every adventure with enthusiasm, grace, and an infectious smile. 

Above all else, Phyllis treasured her role as "Grandma." Her beloved granddaughter, Jalea, held a special place in her heart and brought immeasurable happiness to her life. Together they created countless cherished memories, from unforgettable trips to the American Girl Doll Store to vacations, shopping excursions, and simple afternoons spent laughing together. Phyllis delighted in watching Jalea grow, encouraging her dreams, celebrating every milestone, and surrounding her with boundless love. Their bond was one of deep affection, friendship, and joy that will forever remain a treasured gift to those who witnessed it. 

In the spring of 2026, Phyllis fulfilled a lifelong aspiration when she was initiated into the Baltimore Alumnae Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. Becoming a member of the organization she admired so deeply brought her tremendous pride and happiness. She embraced the ideals of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood with the same grace and compassion that characterized every aspect of her life. Though her time as a Soror was brief, the friendships she formed and the love she shared with her Sorors became a meaningful part of her final chapter. 

Those who knew Phyllis quickly recognized her warm spirit, quiet strength, and remarkable ability to make everyone feel seen, valued, and loved. She possessed a discerning spirit, a compassionate heart, and an unwavering commitment to helping others. Whether offering words of encouragement, extending a helping hand, or simply listening without judgment, she had a unique gift for bringing comfort and hope to those around her. Her kindness left an imprint on every life she touched. 

Phyllis leaves to cherish her precious memory her devoted mother, Loveline Johnson; her two loving sons, William Eric Lloyd, Jr. and Jamaal Edward Lloyd; her treasured granddaughter, Jalea; a host of beloved family members, lifelong friends, former students and colleagues, and her cherished Sorors of the Baltimore Alumnae Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, along with countless others whose lives were forever enriched by her love and generosity. 

Although our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in a life beautifully lived. Phyllis leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, education, service, and love that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. Her gentle spirit, radiant smile, wise counsel, and unwavering devotion will forever remain in our hearts.
