Paul Desales DeLilly was born on April 10, 1955, at Freeman Hospital in Washington, D.C., on Easter Sunday. A nurse lovingly called him “Easter basket,” a nickname that followed him fondly throughout his life.
Paul received his education out of state at a private Catholic school, where he developed values that stayed with him for a lifetime. He was a hardworking and dedicated man who held various roles over the years, including employment at Johns Hopkins Hospital, a local gas company, and in both housekeeping and security services. No matter the job, Paul took pride in honest work and gave his best.
One of Paul’s greatest joys was music. After getting paid, he would often head straight to the record store to buy a new album to add to his collection. He loved singing and dancing, and his home was frequently filled with the sounds of his favorite groups, The Temptations and The Four Tops, whose music he played daily.
Paul was a true handyman—known by family and friends as someone who could fix just about anything. He also enjoyed cooking and sharing meals with those he loved. In his later years, Paul lived next door to one of his sisters, faithfully waiting each evening to make sure she arrived home safely, a quiet reflection of his caring and protective nature.
Paul departed this life on January 19, 2026, at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmaline and Francis DeLilly; his brothers William, Joseph, Calvin, and John; and his beloved son David.
Paul leaves to cherish his memory sons Derrick and Dontae; brothers, Francis and Thomas; sisters, Frances, Audrey, Louise, Lillian, MaryAlice, and Delores; grandchildren, Racheal, Derrick Jr., and Kendrick; along with a host of other relatives and friends who will forever remember his warmth, music, and unwavering love.
