NORMAN WESLEY JENKINS, SR. born September 26, 1947 to the late Norman Eunice Jenkins and Cora Margaret Jenkins in Baltimore, MD.

Norman received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System. He was a graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. He was a member of Pleasant Hope Baptist Church. Norman enlisted in the United States Army in October of 1966. He proudly served his country and was honorable discharged. He received a Purple Heart Combat INF was a member special service 173rd Airborne Unit and 75th Rangers. Norman met Darlene Dodd from this union, he was blessed with Daddy's Little Girls, Tracey, Felecia and Noreen. Everyone that knew him knows how he felt about his girls. Norman had a love for marching bands and good music. In the early 1970's he along with his friends formed the White Hawks Marching Band. He marched for years with the Silver Eagles and the Invaders Marching Band. Norman worked and traveled with several prominent marching bands. His recent experience was with the New Edition Marching Band. In 1977, he married Gwendolyn Hayes, from this union they were blessed with Norman Jr. and shared sons. Norman worked as a driver for Royal Cab and Checker Cab Companies during the 1970's and mid 1980's. He worked for Amports Services manufacturing equipment for General Motors at the Port of Maryland for 22 years until his retirement in 2011. Norman was a proud American Legionnaire and son of American Legion. He served at Monumental Elks, American Legion Post 19 and Northeastern American Legion Post # 285. In March of 2015, he received an Honorary Life Member Certificate from Northeastern Squadron #285 for being a chartered member and first commander of the Squadron. He served as the 1st Sons of the American Legion Squadron Commander of the Northeastern Squadron #285 1996-1998. He served as the Baltimore District Commander for the Sons of the American Legion 2000-2001, 2001-12. He was the 1st Captain of the color guard representing Northeastern Post #285.

Norman was a very affectionate person and made numerous friends and extended family. He was affectionately known as 'Stormin Norman'. He enjoyed life and lived every moment to the fullest. Norman loved to dance and party. His dancing lit up the room. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. No matter what situation or obstacles came his way, he never complained or was negative even during his weakest moments.

Angels arrived to take Norman home to be with those family members and friends that preceded him in this earthly life. On January 22, 2016 at 8:48pm in the presence of his daughters and grandson, Norman slipped into eternal rest. He will be sorely missed by those whose lives he touched.

To cherish in the memories of a well lived life are his daughters Tracey Estep(Kevin), Felecia Harris and Cynthia Jenkins, son Norman W. Jenkins, Jr., Noreen and Eric Jenkins both preceded him in death; seven stepsons; Kevin, Darrell, Dontrell, Damon, Maurice, Bruce and Christopher Tillman, one brother Earl Jenkins, five sister-in-laws Sandra, Roberta, Linda, Kimberleigh and Valerie, four brother-in-laws, Ralph, Tommy, Joe and Ecliffe, fourteen grandchildren, D'andre'a Ralph, DaJanae, Brandon(MindyAnn), Destiny, Kendra, Kimberly, Dagkwon, Derrick, Charles, Stephanie, Jacob, Jaquhetta and Roger; twelve great-grandchildren, Ryan, Serenity, Tristan, Damani, Kali, Kimberly, Jeremiah, Zoe, Sian, Asia, Jayden and Zion, One Aunt Laura Gibbs, Devoted friends, Darlene Johnson, Theresa Palmer, Carolyn Jackson and Joyce Brown; Honorary adopted family-members of American Legion Post # 285, American Legion Post #19, Sons of American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, sister and brothers Vanessa, Reggie , Rodney, Willie Christian Jr. and a host of nieces , nephews, relatives and friends.
