Norma McCullough was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on June 12, 1946, to her parents Eddie and Marie McCullough.
Norma attended Baltimore City Public Schools and grew up in the heart of East Baltimore on Preston Street with her parents and siblings. During her teenage years, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved listening to music, dancing, and going out to discos.
She had three children Veronica, Nathaniel and Jesse (deceased). As a mother she loved her children unconditionally. Through their entire lives, Norma provided her children with endless love. She was a source of strength and inspiration to all.
Norma married Jesse Waller in her late twenties and later divorced. She later married Gerald Joseph Will Jr, whom she leaves behind.
Norma’s home church was St Matthew’s United Methodist Church , which was located in East Baltimore with Pastor Jackie.
Norma's career began as a caregiver due to her passion for providing quality care to people who lacked support. This led her to open Norma’s House, an assisted living facility offering care for older adults and people with disabilities. As the owner and operator of Norma’s House, she enjoyed delivering top-quality care for her residents, for 33 years.
Norma, affectionately known as Mrs. Norma or Grandma Norma in her Patterson Park community, became a member of the neighborhood association and participated in community block parties and giveaway events. She was well respected and honored as the neighborhood elder. She became someone in the community that everyone could depend on.
Norma, a faith filled woman, enjoyed reading the Bible, and her favorite scripture was Philippians 4:13 “ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Her unwavering strength and belief in the power of prayer guided her throughout her life. As a foodie, her favorite thing to do was order takeout and delivery. She enjoyed drinking Folger’s coffee with lots of sugar and eating sweet treats.
Norma is survived by her daughter Veronica Agona-Cofield and son Nathaniel McKinnon. Her grandchildren include April Lang, Gabrielle Shirey, Alexis Shirey (spouse Whitney Wagner-Shirey), Tierra Paschall, Jamal Johnson, Ashely McKenzy, Timmy McKinnon, Iesha Waller, Jessica Waller, and her great-grandchildren Mekhai McKinnon, Khalil McKinnon, Kya Paschall, Kera Paschall, Jaxon Campbell, Jream Johnson, Jru Johnson, Jamal Johnson Jr., Mason- Stransky, Parker Stransky Jay’Den Langley, Josiah Jones, and her two unborn great -grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Sarah and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father Eddie McCullough, her mother Marie McCullough, her siblings John Roberts, Irene, Beatrice, Eddie, Ricky, Jesse, Ronnie, Willie, and Tyrone. Her son Jesse Waller and her grandsons Derek McKinnon and Nathaniel McKinnon III.
Norma will be remembered as a wife, daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, neighbor, friend, and confidant. Norma had a love for people, and people loved her. She made everyone who met her feel special and loved. She was everything to everyone. She loved her family and friends, for whom she was always just one call away with her welcoming spirit.
Norma was the heartbeat of her family and everyone’s biggest cheerleader. Norma’s life and legacy were impactful, and she will be loved and missed by everyone.
