NAOMI PATTERSON, daughter of the late Clero and Arie Jackson, was born on June 8, 1937 in, Chesterfield SC. She was called home to glory on August 8, 2015.
Naomi spent her early years growing up in the south before moving with her parents and siblings to New York City. She was one of 12 children and loved her sisters and brothers dearly. Everyone that knew the Jackson girls would always speak of how beautiful they all were. She was educated in the south and later continued her education in the field of nursing.
After committing her love and pledging their union, Naomi married Charlie Patterson Jr. and they together relocated their family to Baltimore, MD. Naomi spent more than 13 years working as a nurse for Sinai Hospital 11pm-7am shift. She had a true passion and love that she demonstrated while caring for 'her' patients as she would affectionately call them. She later retired and spent all of her devoted time to being a fulltime wife and mother. Naomi raised three generations of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with countless others that she so willingly opened her home to. She would never see anyone hungry or without a place to stay, so her home in the 900 block of Rutland Ave. become a home to all.
In the early 80's the Patterson family became members of The New Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a member and later became president of the Willing Workers Ministry. She loved the Lord with all her heart and was a great woman of wisdom and faith. With the Ordination of her husband to Deacon Sister Naomi became Deaconess Patterson where she served under that office for many years.
Naomi was preceded in death by three of her children, Norman, Melon(Lois), Calvin(Cook) and one grand son Rashad. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Charlie Patterson Jr.; her children Aron(Smitty), Shirley(Lulu), Carlton(Andy), William(Fatty), Cynthia(Niecy) and Jerry; four sisters, Ollie, Jeanette, Gloria and Queen; two sisters-in-law, Carol and Jean; one uncle Eugene; two daughters-in-law, Regina and Audrey; twenty grandchildren and forty great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and God children, which she cared for and nurtured, along with many other relatives and friends.
