Mary Molock, fondly called “Nannie”, was called home to rest on Saturday, December 12, 2020. She was 89 years old. Born December 9th, 1932 in Galax, Virginia to Helbert Redd and Elizabeth Weens, Nannie was one of seven children: Lottie, Leana, Herbert, Charles, William and Estel. She grew up in the local church and quickly learned the power of a strong community, and the value of the care that a community could provide. Those lessons laid the foundation of a life lived in both service and faith.
After starting her family, Nannie decided to move farther North to give herself, and her children, more opportunities. She found her new beginnings in Baltimore, Maryland, where she met and married the love of her life Cecil Molock. They wed on October 6, 1971 and shared 31 beautiful years of marriage. Nannie was a devoted wife, and loving mother to five amazing children: Larry, Loretta, Beverly, Ray and Jerry.
Nannie became a certified Evangelist on February 4, 2001 and she dedicated her life to serving Christ and helping those in need. She was a prominent member in the church, and always ensured that even the youngest believers were able to fully experience, and learn more about, the love of Jesus Christ. Her commitment to building a strong community, and love of people and caregiving, inspired her to later pursue a career as a Nurse. Nannie was a truly special women who never hesitated to put the needs of others before her own.
Mary Molock will be remembered by many for her gentle spirit and enduring love of the Lord, but to those who knew her best she will simply be remembered as Nannie. When you were with her you knew that you were loved, safe, and seen. There are few words, if any, that truly do justice for her grace, generosity, and the bounty of her spirit.
Preceding Nannie in death were her granddaughters, Artist and Donna.
Nannie leaves to cherish her memory: One daughter-in-law, Valretha Brown; nine grandchildren, Allegra, James, Ena, Dana, Morgan, Megan, Quiyana, Larry, and Katrina; 20 great grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
