On August 24, 1954 A song bird was born named Myra Denise Winkler to the late Mary Maker and William Winkler Sr. She was a beautiful soul and loving person. God called his angel home to come sing in the heavens choir on July 14, 2025.
Myra, also known as Nana to the grandchildren and Suga to others, received her education in the Baltimore City Public School system while graduating from Dunbar High School and attended Baltimore City Community College.
Myra was a Jack of all trades. From working as a Rental Property Manager, helping at Blue Cross Shield and being called one of the Golden Girls while working at Northwest Nursing Home as a GNA.
Myra was a member of the great Baltimore Choir as well as New Friendship Baptist Church Choir and Praise and Worship. She loved to sing and rejoice with her choir and was the strongest alto ever. You could hear her from near and far. Myra also was a T.V. star in a singing group back in the 80's as well.
Suga as we knew her would break out in a song for any occasion. She would fuss you out while playing cards when she knew she was winning. If you didn't let her get what she wanted she would lay you out then call everyone and tell them what you did.
Myra, but called Nana by the grandchildren, loved to come to her room and get all the snacks because she would be hiding them from Kelly. Myra always talked about her children saying Mark better go ahead he ain't her father when he would try and tell her what to do. She would call Kels from another room on her phone asking her, when was she taking her to Roses because she needs a dress for the choir. Yelling at Tiesha because she was taking forever with her food and she was hungry but once she got it she would say (this food is the bomb). Through it all, her children were her pride and joy.
To know Myra was an honor, she touched so many hearts and left a mark on the world that even during her last days she was still making people laugh and having people fall in love with her.
Suga will truly be missed and her legacy will live on forever.
Preceding her in death, mother Mary Maker, father William Winkler Sr. and grandson Tyree Gray.
She leaves to mourn three children Mark Hall (Leslie), Kelly Gray and Tiesha Brooks; eleven grandchildren, Cierra, Mark, Devin, Malik and Denzel Hall, Antoine and Tyoine Jackson, Damira, De'Ara, Purnell Summerville and Rhonde' Scott; three bonus grandchildren, Toni Shuford, Danielle Fitzgerald and Daquan Thomas; seven great grandchildren, Thailyn and Thailya Gray, Astro Jackson, Jamari and Jayden Booth, Ayden Thomas and Hendrix Hall; two brothers, William Winkler (sister- in- law Charlene) and Ronald Winkler( sister in law Niecey); two sisters, Glennis Winkler and Sheila Winkler and a host of godchildren, aunts, uncles ,cousins, family and friends.
