Listen to Obituary

In the early morning of Thursday, November 8, 2018, God and his infinite wisdom called home our beloved Mildred Ann Williams, who quietly and suddenly departed this life.

Mildred the daughter of Mable and the late George Wheel, Sr. was born an identical twin on May 4, 1940 in Hallsboro, Va. She was preceded in death by, twin sister; Mary Smothers, brothers, James and William Wheel.

Mildred attended Midlothian Elementary School and Carver High School in Chester, Virginia. Mildred was employed by Mercy Medical Center for 35yrs and retired as a supervisor of the laundry department. She resumed working in 2010 with the Catholic School Systems until her untimely death.

She was joined in holy matrimony to Solomon L. Williams Sr. on June 1, 1962 and from that union, three children were born; Karen, Mark and Solomon Jr., (who preceded her in death). Mildred accepted Christ at an early age and later became a devoted member of Greater faith Hope Tabernacle Church. She was a dedicated member on the choir.

Mildred, affectionately known as "Granny, Sis, MeMe and Ma" was loved by many. Mildred loved to cook and feed anyone that crossed her door step. "Boy, how will miss those turkey tips, potato salad and candy yams. Never the one to sugar coat a thing, Mildred sure had a way with her words, she told it like it was while feeding you. One of Mildred's greatest gifts was, her natural ability to love, and care for people whose path she crossed. In some magical way she just adopted you. One of the greatest examples of Mildred's love was how she cared for her 102 year old mother.

She leaves to cherish in her loving memory: devoted husband, Solomon L. Williams Sr; two children, Karen and Mark Williams; a loving mother Deaconess, Mable Wheel; one brother George Wheel Jr; six grandchildren; Aisha Bolling (whom she raised), Ashley, Mark Jr., Anthony, Darell and Derrick Williams; eight great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Mae Williams; seven sister-laws; Catherine Wheel, Lucille Thomas, Rose Mae Scott, Pearl Williams, Elizabeth Johnson, Sarah Ellison and Gloria Shamberg; a host of nieces, nephews and friends among them devoted cousins, Mary Frances Johnson and Marvin Mitchell..
