After a lengthy illness, on Saturday, December 31, 2022 Michael Berry Sr., affectionately known as "Mike", departed this life.
Michael was born to the late Ruth Berry and Roland Roles on October 29, 1954 in Baltimore Maryland, where he also received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System.
Michael started working at the young age of seventeen. In the late eighty's he worked in Glen Burnie at Ritchie's Car Wash. After working there for a few years, then moving on to Bugles Laundry, where he became manager on the morning shift. Michael took some time off from working for a few years, just before the laundry closed, and when he returned, he started at Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Baltimore Arena. Michael was a very hard worker, and he held down various positions before going on to be employed with Dietz & Watson for more than 20 years, where he later retired. During his professional career, he developed lifelong friendships with his co-workers.
Michael will be remembered for his talents, handsome smile, quietness and being very soft-spoked, never raising his voice. Michael enjoyed drawing and coloring and his favorite color was blue. His favorite past times were watching cartoons, westerns, Law & Order and Criminal Minds. Watching football was his form of entertainment on Sundays. Everyone who knew Michael knew he loved fried chicken, Lima beans and shoepeg corn which was his favorite because his mom used to make it for him. Michael was a sharp dresser, he loved clothes, shoes and hats.
His memory will be cherished by a special friend Victoria Queen; his son Michael Berry Jr.; daughter-in-law, LaKita Berry; four grandchildren, Candice Blizzell-Hicks, Martin McCleary-Berry, Michael (Mike) Berry III, MicKayla (Kayla) Berry; five great-grandchildren, Amir, Amira, Martin, Ariana and Adalynn; two sisters, Elaine Morgan (Tom Morgan), Cora Berry (James Powell), two brothers, David Berry and Maurice Berry (Angela Berry), five brothers and sisters preceding him in death, Vina Beard (Leon Beard), Ruth Ann Berry, William Redding (Annie Redding), Milton Berry (Marie Berry) and Oliver Berry (Lorraine Berry).
