Michael Montgomery Palmer, Sr. the son of Prentiss Williams
and Letha Alston, was born on September 5, 1954 in Richmond
County, North Carolina. At the age of seventeen months, he was
adopted and raised by the later Walter and Ruth (Hubbard)
Palmer. He departed this life after a brief illness on
March 6, 2017.
Michael attended Baltimore City Public Schools. He was a
graduate of Edmondson High School where he played football.
After high school, he attended Morgan State College, where he
also played football and was drafted by a pro minor league
team, but only played for one season.
After returning to Maryland, he worked for L&J Construction
Company as a dispatcher for many years. He then met the love
of his life Sandra Bell Palmer who preceded him in death. From
this marriage two children were born, Maisha Palmer and
Michael M. Palmer, Jr. In addition, he has another daughter
Mykell Johnson.
After many years of working for L&J Construction Company, he
retired on disability in 2009. Later in life, Michael became ill and
his health started to decline. He joined New Chiristian Memorial
Church and became an active member. He sung on the men's
choir and participated in other organizations. When he could
not go any further he gave his life to the Lord.
He leaves to mourn, two daughters Maisha Palmer and Mykell
Johnson; one son, Michael M. Palmer, Jr.; six grandchildren, Asia
Bowie, Destiny Murray, Icez Barnette, Tavon Price, Makaya
Palmer and Morgan Palmer; his birth mother, Aletha Alston;
seven sisters, three brothers; sister and brother-in-laws; a devoted cousin, Lena Anthony
and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
