Today we celebrate the life of Melvin Roy Peace, the son of the late Iris Peace and William Lawerence. After a lengthy illness he departed his life on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 2:43AM at Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital.
Melvin gave his life to Christ at a young age.
He was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. Employed at McCormicks and continued his career at Solo Cup Co where he retired.
Melvin had several hobbies which included working on cars, going to Speedway Racetrack, and watching westerns. His favorite dish was Mac & Cheese and Bread Pudding.
Melvin was a warm and compassionate person who had agape love for his family. He spent over five decades walking hand in hand with Maria Taylor, building a lifetime of cherished memories. He was outgoing and easily made friends. His smile was infectious and made you want to smile with him. He was the oldest of his five other siblings, he had an optimistic perspective on life and was affectionately called “Big Poppa the Show Stopper” by his nieces and nephews.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents Iris Peace & William Lawerence; Melvin Peace Jr. Flora Rice, Tyree’ Cypress, De’angelo Cypress, Deonte’ Winston, and Marvin Watts.
Melvin leaves to cherish his memory daughters Shawand (Timothy) affectionately called “Beauford” by Melvin, Tonica, and Lartarshia Taylor; sons, Maurice and Demel (Raven); siblings Yvonne, Wayne and Wonda;, seven grandchildren Kalishia, Kenneth, Angela, Chakiyah, Destiny, Bryson and Tykeira; three great grandchildren Lil Tyree’, Tylik’e & Chaise; two aunts Rosealie & Yolinda. A longtime significant other Maria Taylor; thirteen nieces and nephews Cynthia, Craig (Daneka), Crystal, Shakia, Alichia, Cameron, Raquan, Labreyah, Montez, Issac, Sharon and Sherron. Three close friends Kenny, Denise and Veda and host of other relatives and friends.
