Melvin Lee Sr.

On Wednesday, January 24, 2018 God called Melvin from labor to reward.

Melvin Lee,Sr. was born November 30, 1937 to the late John Lee and Clara Lee (Johnson) at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Melvin was raised in a loving home in East Baltimore. At a early age he was active in the neighborhood doing odd jobs to earn money and being the youngest of five he was his mama's favorite.

Melvin was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and later worked for the Royal Crown Soda Company. He worked other jobs in the Baltimore area until he found the one. Melvin began working on the docks of Baltimore as a longshoreman and continued there for over twenty five years until his retirement.

Melvin married the love of his life Louise Bland not once but twice first in May 1959. And from this union two children were born a daughter Charlene and a son Melvin, Jr. (Joe-Joe). After separating they remarried again in may 2002 and Melvin became a member of the St. Paul Community Baptist Church where he served as an Usher.

Melvin was an industrious person. He had friends of all ages and all walks of life. He was there for friends, co-workers, neighbors and relatives and as always Melvin shared his heart and resources. During retirement he could be found at the Sandtown Winchester Senior Center volunteering to help where needed.

Melvin was preceded in death by his sister Mary and brothers Charles and John. Melvin leaves to mourn: his wife Louise, daughters Charlene Harris (Michael), Celeste Edwards; son Melvin, Jr., two granddaughters, Crystal and Cimon Harris; one sister, Charlotte Williams; brother-in-laws, John Bland (Ruth), Robert Bland (Barbara); special caregiver, Anita Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
