Melvin Ray Botts Jr., son of the late Amelia H. McDaniel

and Melvin Botts Sr., was born on August 7, 1953 in Baltimore,

Maryland. He departed this life on Saturday, October 21, 2017, after

a lengthy illness.

Melvin received his education in Baltimore City Public Schools. He

worked several jobs including Maryland Lumber Yard.

Melvin married the former Diane Watkins.

Melvin was affectionately known to many as "Man". He accepted

Jesus Christ as his personal savior at Payne Memorial A.M.E. Church.

He was a sharp dressing man. He had no problem correcting you

when you were wrong. He truly loved to travel, dance, sing and

talking plenty of stuff. His favorite line was "That's what you

know, but your mind knows better." He truly was a family man

including being a father figure to all his nieces and nephews. He

made numerous friends wherever he went and will be sincerely be

missed by everyone who knew him.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Amelia H. McDaniel and

Melvin R. Botts, Sr.; his son, Glenn Mayden; his siblings, Kenny

Smith and Earleen Botts; his aunt, Bernice Simmons and uncle,

Daniel Smith.

Melvin leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Diane Botts; children

Julia Mayden, Beatrice Allen and Paul Epps; seven grandchildren,

A'Kiesha, T'Kierra, Erin, T'Yonna, E'miJae, Kamryn and Donte; two

great-grandchildren, Corey and Marvin; three sisters, Ruth (Joe)

Jordan'el, Delores (Codel) McCall and Deborah (Bernard) Williams;

two brothers, Daniel (Barbara) Botts, and George (Deborah) Botts;

son-in-law, Maurice Allen; three sisters-in-law, Royalette (Jacob)

Nelson and Valerie (John) Bishop, Maria (Jason) Ivey; four brothersin-

law, Calvin (Deborah) Stockdale, Roosevelt (Michelle) Goings Jr.,

Michael (Charlette) Goings and Dallas Thompson; a host of nieces

nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, godchildren and friends
