MATTIE ADDISON-CARTER was born on December 10, 1943 to the late Vince C. Woodard and Eva Woodard. Mattie entered into internal rest on October 21, 2015.
Mattie was always referred to as 'Tute' or 'Ms. Addison'. Tute came to Baltimore, Maryland at a very young age. She attended the Baltimore Public School System. She met and married the late Melvin Addison. From this union six children were born. She later married the late Joseph Carter.
In the early 70's Tute worked as a family Social Worker for the department of Social Services. In 1980 she was employed by the Baltimore Public School System where she impacted the lives of students, staff and parents. She was known as the lady who didn't play with people children. Tute loved her job and they loved her. She retired in 2009 with 29 years of service.
Tute was a faithful believer that Jesus Christ is the son of the living God. She was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church.
Tute was a very out spoken and spoke exactly what was on her mind. If you asked her a question, she gave you an answer whether it was something that you may not want to hear. She answered you truthfully and whole heartedly. Many loved her openness and direct form of communicating. She was always the life of the event.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Robert Eugene Perlie.
She leaves to cherish her memories five daughters; Melvina (Alger) James, Denise Addison, Lisa Addison, Angela Addison, Celestine (William) Gibson; one son, Melvin (Jennifer) Addison; 18 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; best friend, Leone Carr; and a host of relatives and friends.
